FASADA Festival was established in 2021 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the aim of revitalizing public spaces and contributing to the positive transformation of the local community.
As the only festival in Southeast Europe that strategically maps and transforms urban neighborhoods into small open-air galleries, FASADA is more than a platform for street art production. It is a committed effort to harness the power of public space to communicate directly and inclusively with the community through education, artistic practice, and institutional collaboration.
The vision of FASADA Festival is to transform Sarajevo into an open-air gallery and contribute to the positive transformation of the local community through art that advocates for the preservation of nature, equality, and solidarity in society.
The mission of the Festival is to create opportunities for local and international artists to take part in turning Sarajevo into an open-air gallery, and to secure a supportive legal framework for the production of street art by advocating for changes in the regulations that govern public space.
WE EDUCATE
WE PAINT
WE CHANGE
WE COLLABORATE
There is no change for the better if one stands alone. Bringing together artists, producers, cultural workers, community members, organizations, and institutions to learn from one another and to collaborate in a setting that nurtures collective well-being leads to creation. Creation of art. Creation of change.
Because living in a pleasant environment matters. Living in a healthy environment matters. Speaking up against social, and environmental injustice matters. Because production of art that stands as a testament of time, and spark of change matters.
FASADA Festival is organized by Obojena Klapa, the first non-governmental organization in Bosnia and Herzegovina dedicated to street, contemporary, and film art.
Founded by Sarajevo-born muralist, painter, and film producer Benjamin Čengić, the festival is brought to life by a dedicated group of artists and cultural workers:
